Wrexham want to sign a Premier League record signing who once broke a long-standing Robbie Keane statistic
It’s not often that Wrexham are being linked with some top international record-breakers. But now they are.
Wrexham fans are looking forward to an exciting summer transfer window, and a return to the second tier of English football after more than 40 years hiatus.
Wrexham were promoted from League One over the Easter weekend and finished their 2024/25 season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Lincoln City, courtesy of goals from Elliot Lee and Ryan Longman.
But the squad next season could look very different to how it looks now. Phil Parkinson has hinted at changes to the side with a lot of potential outgoings as well as incomings at the Racecourse.
One who could potentially arrive is Callum Robinson.
Wrexham target Callum Robinson broke a record held by Robbie Keane
Wrexham are targeting Cardiff City attacker Robinson ahead of the summer transfer window. The Republic of Ireland international has just been relegated with Cardiff City and it’s reported that he’s among the names being considered by Wrexham as they eye a striker with proven Championship experience.
Robinson not only has a track record of scoring in the second tier, but also on the international stage. The 30-year-old has scored nine goals in 38 games for Ireland including a hat-trick against Qatar in 2021. That hat-trick was the first scored by a Republic of Ireland international since Robbie Keane achieved the feat in 2014.
And Parkinson may be impressed to know that, in the game before that, Robinson scored twice against Azerbaijan. His following hat-trick broke another record: the first Republic of Ireland player to score two goals (or more) in back-to-back games since Jon Walters in 2017.
