DANNY Cowley has revealed that Colchester United rejected multiple bids for Samson Tovide in the January transfer window.

A YOUNG woman says she has been left unable to see out of one eye after being attacked by a man “wearing all black” in a Colchester park in broad daylight.

Lita Meade, 22, was left shaken and bruised after the shocking assault in High Woods Country Park on Monday.

Lita, who has autism, had been walking through the park at about 1pm when she was approached by the man who proceeded to attack her.

She said: “I had quite a lot of bruising to my face and I’m seeing the opticians tomorrow because the person who attacked me broke my glasses and I cannot see out of my right eye now.

“I am very surprised that it happened in the middle of the day as I thought it was not something that would happen in the daytime.”

Lita, who is from Highwoods, has shared pictures of her injuries including a bruised face.

She said the incident took place not far from the High Woods Country Park car park, near the shop and entrance off Turner Road.

She added: “My family and fiancé have been looking after me and as I didn’t get many breaks, I am slowly recovering”.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers are investigating an assault on a woman in Highwoods Country Park, Colchester.

“This was reported to us shortly before 1.30pm on Monday February 3.

“The victim reported she was walking in the park when she was approached by a white man, dressed all in black.

“He assaulted her, causing her to fall to the floor.

“She suffered facial injuries, received hospital treatment and is being supported by us.”

The spokesman added: “Our investigation is ongoing, and we would urge anyone with information or footage which could assist us to come forward.
