£8.5m Tottenham player now dazzling after Wolves failed with 2024 transfer approach
There are a number of players who Wolves didn’t sign who have gone on to become household names – and another looks to be heading in the same direction.
Wolves fans have been blessed to watch many talented individuals at Molineux over the years.
The likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha all lit up Molineux at times, and were great finds by the club’s recruitment division.
But there have also been some players Wolves missed out on who have gone on to flourish.
Viktor Gyokeres is one that springs to mind, with Jeff Shi unable to close a deal and ultimately missing out to Sporting CP.
Enzo Fernandez also might have become a Wolves player.
There’s also another player Wolves might have signed, who is now looking like he could really explode.
Wolves tried to sign Lucas Bergvall, he’s now thriving for Tottenham
After the January 2024 window closed, it was reported that Wolves had attempted to sign Lucas Bergvall.

Apparently, Wanderers were ready to go in with an offer of around £10-11 million for Bergvall, and the player was said to be flattered by the club’s interest.
But his preference was Tottenham Hotspur, who managed to get him for around £8.5 million in the end.
Bergvall has already clocked up 51 appearances for the club, and at the moment he is in fine fettle under Thomas Frank.

Last weekend, Bergvall scored and assisted in Spurs’ 3-0 win over West Ham United. He was named the Player of the Match. He was also voted Player of the Matchweek.
And last night, playing in the number 10 role, Bergvall shone in Spurs’ first Champions League game against Villarreal, on what was his debut in the competition. He was again named Player of the Match.
Bergvall could be uncomfortable viewing for Wolves officials
It’s been a great start to the new season for Bergvall and Wolves’ loss looks to be Spurs’ gain.
The Swedish talent was very highly rated while he was at Djurgarden and Wolves did seem ready to try and sign him.
But it seems that the push perhaps wasn’t strong enough.
Now, having spent a bit of time at Spurs, Bergvall is shining and under Frank he could really reach new heights.

Wolves had a very questionable transfer window, and one player who did not end up signing for the club was Evann Guessand.
Wolves brought in six new faces and turned Jorgen Strand Larsen’s move to the club permanent.
Three new attackers came in; Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias and Tolu Arokodare.
The hope is that the trio will be able to deliver goals for Wolves, and replace the output lost by the likes of Matheus Cunha, Pablo Sarabia, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Goncalo Guedes.
At one point in the window, Wolves were linked with a move for Evann Guessand.
