‘The pain will never go’ – Mum of West Brom fan whose death is subject of murder probe shares heartache
The mother of a West Brom fan whose death is subject of a murder investigation has told how she held his hand moments before he died, and how the pain “will never go”.
Dad-of-two Sam Siviter, aged 35, died in the back of an ambulance after sustaining stab wounds in an incident at his home in Shrewsbury.
Paramedics and police rushed to the scene at Lambourn Drive, Bicton Heath late on the night of May 2 this year, and worked to try and save him as midnight passed.
Sam’s death came as a devastating blow to his many friends and loved ones, not least his mum Glynis Taylor, his partner Hannah and their boys Reggie (five) and Tommy (three).
“It’s just a nightmare,” Glynis said. “He’s left two little boys.
“I was there, I was babysitting. His partner was banging on the door saying he’s been stabbed.
“I got in the ambulance with him. I told them ‘that’s my son’. I held his hand.

Derek McInnes delivers fresh Lawrence Shankland update as West Brom circle striker transfer
West Brom transfer news from BirminghamLive as Hearts striker is said to be close to reaching a decision about his future
Derek McInnes believes Lawrence Shankland sees the benefit of spurning interest from West Brom to re-sign for Hearts.
The new Jambos boss says he expects the forward, who has been dragging his feet over signing a new contract with the Scottish Premiership outfit, to make a decision on his future ‘in the next few days’.
And McInnes, himself a former Albion player, believes the 29-year-old would have told him if he had decided to end his time at Tynecastle.
“Hopefully, by the next time we speak, there might be a wee bit more clarity,” McInnes said at a press conference on Tuesday. “I expect there to be a bit more clarity in the next few days.
“If it was a ‘no’, he’d have told us. I think he sees so many positives from re-signing at Hearts. What we’ve all got to appreciate is when a player runs his contract down, particularly good number nines, then sometimes there can be other things to consider.
“The conversations we’ve had with Lawrence is all about the benefits that we can give him as a club, but equally what he can give us. I’d love him to be part of that, I really would. I think over the next few days we’ll find out if that’s going to be the case.”
Shankland has scored 68 goals for the Edinburgh club and McInnes is hopeful he’ll be able to build his side around a player he previously managed at Aberdeen.
As for Albion, they started building a squad for Ryan Mason when they secured a deal for centre back Nat Phillips on Monday.
