Paddy McGuinness stops off in Dedham after Ipswich show
A FAMOUS comedian enjoyed a stay at a luxury hotel and spa near Colchester after playing a comedy show.
Paddy McGuinness checked in at the Talbooth House and Spa after a show at the Ipswich Regent Theatre.
Staff were excited to welcome Paddy, who is best known for his stand-up comedy and a string of TV presenter roles, including Take Me Out.
The 51-year-old comedian from Lancashire enjoyed a relaxed stay at the luxurious venue, looking out across Constable’s Country and the Dedham Vale.
Hotel manager Mariann Read, who had her photograph taken with the star, said: “Paddy is a lovely guy, he was really nice.
“He was very friendly and we were very glad he chose to stay with us.
“He was chatting away to staff and said he had a lovely stay.”
Mariann said Paddy arrived in the evening and kept to himself in his room before departing the next day to Southend for his Friday night performance.
As the hotel manager, Mariann is responsible for making sure her guests have a pleasant stay, and she enjoys interacting with them.
She said her celebrity guest of choice would be Pete Wicks, though she was “honoured” to serve the Queen when she came to Colchester.
“I’ve worked with Milsoms for 35 years,” said Mariann.
“It’s a nice family-run business, and we have some fantastic buildings in Dedham belonging to Milsoms.
“It’s a lovely place to work.”
The luxury hotel, with 12 individually designed bedrooms named after English poets, overlooks the lush countryside made famous by Constable’s romantic paintings.
The Talbooth Restaurant is a short distance from the hotel, situated along the riverfront with terraced outdoor dining areas where it serves award-winning food.
