Everton must unleash Idrissa Gueye

Wayne Rooney message sent to Man Utd as Everton alter stance on Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton are going to see a lot of speculation over the coming months surrounding the future of Jarrad Branthwaite.

For a club who are looking to make a major step in the right direction this summer, this is not what Everton will want.

David Moyes is set to bolster his squad with a host of new faces this summer in his first real opportunity to change his side.

In their first summer window, the Friedkins will hand Everton a considerable transfer budget with their PSR worries massively reduced.

However, there will be a real importance put on the club being able to keep their best players as they head into Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton send Wayne Rooney message to Man United over Jarrad Branthwaite

Moyes has warned Man United that Branthwaite won’t be sold this summer despite their keen interest.

With the move to Bramley-Moore just weeks away, selling Branthwaite would be a terrible message to the fans.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes did, however, share a Wayne Rooney example when discussing the possibility of selling the 22-year-old which may cause some confusion over his stance.

But I have to also say, over the journey I’ve had over many years at Everton we’ve had to sell many players from Wayne Rooney to Mikel Arteta to Joleon Lescott,” said the 61-year-old.

“Part of being a football manager, especially at certain clubs you have to sell on your journey to try and build as well.”

Moyes hailed Rooney as the best-ever player he had the privilege of managing throughout his career.

However, the Scot admitted that there are times when the likes of Everton have to concede and sell some of their top players.

Everton will hope for fresh start under the Friedkins

Over recent years, Everton have been forced into selling some of their top players just to balance the books against PSR.

This does not appear to be the case this summer as Bramley-Moore Dock will transform Everton’s finances.

As Moyes also suggested in that press conference, Everton hold all of the cards when it comes to Branthwatie’s future.

It has been suggested Branthwaite wants to play Champions League football sooner rather than later.

But that simply means any club he may potentially look to sign for will have to cough up a considerable figure.

Everton News understands the Friedkins still value Branthwaite at £80m this summer and they are not going to back down to any interested clubs.

Everton are going to need to address a number of positions in this summer’s transfer window.

David Moyes has worked his magic on Merseyside in his three months back at the club in all but securing Premier League survival.

However, this cannot hide the work that needs to be done over the summer transfer window to get the club where they aspire to be.

Everton are not just looking at making additions to their playing squad, though.

The Friedkins are adding to their recruitment structure as they aim to put their own stamp on the club.

And there are already a number of players who the Toffees are shortlisting as possible targets to bolster Moyes’ squad.
