Former Lions wide receiver signs one-year deal with Jets
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets are signing veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million.
Reynolds, 30, joins the Jets after splitting time between the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars last season. In nine games, he logged 13 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown.
Before last year, the 6-foot-3 receiver spent three seasons as a key part of the Detroit Lions’ offense. Reynolds became one of the most reliable targets for quarterback Jared Goff — whom he previously played with on the Los Angeles Rams — and a favorite of head coach Dan Campbell, who nicknamed him the “Serpent of Death” and “Praying Mantis.”
In 38 games (29 starts) with the Lions, Reynolds caught 97 passes for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns.
During his final year in Detroit (2023), Reynolds delivered one of the best seasons of his career, catching 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns. However, despite his production as the Lions’ WR3, his final appearance with the team is what most remember.

In the 2023 NFC Championship Game, Reynolds had several dropped passes that contributed to Detroit’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Following that season and failed contract negotiations, Reynolds left Detroit to sign a two-year, $9 million deal with the Broncos.

Last year, Reynolds was the victim of a shooting near a Denver nightclub in October, but was able to return to the field later that season with the Jaguars.
