Alexis Mac Allister exclusive interview: Brighton's World Cup winner on almost quitting the club and what happens next | Football News | Sky Sports

New Signing: Alex MacAllister Joins the Stoke

We’re pleased to welcome 21-year-old forward Alex MacAllister to the club, adding to our attacking line ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The forward most recently featured for Alton, with earlier spells at Leatherheadand Hartley Wintney in the same season, as well as loan stints at Sholing and Welling United during his time with Aldershot Town.

Despite a tough year last season, Alex arrives with a renewed focus and fire. A forward who thrives on sharp movement, great technical ability and a top finisher.

Manager Dan Brownlie commented:

“Alex and I spoke over the Summer; and I have to admit he was impressive in the way he went about it. There’s a devil in his eye that suggests he really wants to kick on this season, and we’re hopeful we can provide that platform. He’s looked good in training and he already knows a few of the boys – so hopefully he’s got the chance to settle in quite quickly.”

MacAllister will link up with the squad immediately as we enter the heart of pre-season preparations. We’re excited to see what he brings to the table in the months ahead.

Stoke City have welcomed a bumper crop of 16 new scholars for pre-season, including signings from Manchester City, Aston Villa and Accrington Stanley – times three – and a full-back with a familiar surname and familiar aggression.

There are more bubbling just behind them and now this intake who will now make the transition from Year 11 students to, essentially, full-time footballers.

They will start with the under-18s under new coach Dean Marney, who has replaced MK Dons-bound Darren Potter, and hope to work their way towards Dave Hibbert’s under-21s and, ultimately, the first team under Mark Robins.

New academy manager Sam Stockley will oversee their development and it will be worth keeping a close eye on players such as goalkeeper Ben Chivers, left-back-come-central midfielder Sidney Moore, and centre-back Josh McWilliams; who have joined from Southend, Crystal Palace and Villa respectively over the last few months.

Rocco Bardsley is a left-back who likes to make tackles as much as his dad Phil, who played for Stoke in the Premier League for three seasons. Rocco’s younger brother Rennes is in the under-13s too, as well, of course, as ITVX show The Bardsley Bunch.
