His latest selection gives me cause for concern!

Could, once he joins up with the squad, internal pressure be forthcoming on young Thelo to push for a move away from Kenilworth Road, to a club playing in, quite probably, the EFL Championship?

Or will common sense be the order of the day with Thelo continuing to be selected, for his country, if he maintains the form he has shown while with us?

I’ll let you decide.

Having dropped down into League One, after our relegation from the EFL Championship, I’m not expecting many of our squad to be heavily involved in the international scene.

But, interestingly, it has been confirmed, and as reported by Luton Today that Thelo Aasgaard has been called up to the Norwegian squad, with the Norwegians set for fixtures against Italy and Estonia which form part of their World Cup qualifying programme.

Now, you may remember that, recently, in the following article – luton-face-losing-their-star-midfielder – we covered the inference that pressure was being put on Thelo, by the Norwegian boss, Ståle Solbakkenabout relating to not being selected for the Norwegian squad if he was playing League One football, despite, in his only full cap so far, scoring on his debut in an emphatic win.

And so, we have reached the end of the line when it comes to the 2024/2025 Play-Off Finals.

Three clubs have realised their dreams while another three have seen those dreams dashed in the harshest of circumstances.

Ahead of the commencement of the three Play-Off Finals, I predicted that – Sheffield UnitedCharlton Athletic and AFC Wimbledon would emerge victorious.

As it turned out I got 2 out of 3 correct, not bad according to the rock singer Meat Loaf!

Obviously, I slipped up on the outcome on the EFL Championship Final result, whereby Sunderland defied the odds to take a 2-1 win after looking like a beaten side for 75 minutes.

Surfing social media, I had to smile when I read a post which, basically, said:

“Congratulations Sunderland on realising your ambition of playing Premier League Football with the opportunity to rejoice at being able to win your much anticipated 14 points and coming straight back down.”

Our own experience showed exactly how hard it is to remain a Premier League side after achieving promotion, will any of the promoted trio of Leeds United, Burnley or Sunderland fare any better?

I’d like to hope so but I don’t think so!

As for Charlton Athletic, any hopes the Hatters support had of seeing a return to Kenilworth Road, on the opposition bench, for Nathan Jones, were dashed by the Welshman leading the South-East London club to the second tier of English football.

Lastly, I’d like to say it’ll be a pleasure to see AFC Wimbledon play League One football.

Many thought the name would vanish when the old guard chose to move to Milton Keynes and change their name to MK Dons, now they are in a higher league than their arch nemesis.
