West Ham ahead of Arsenal, Tottenham in race to sign 20-year-old PL striker, Chelsea plot late move

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion Evan Ferguson, with Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham also keen.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, West Ham United are currently ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign the 20-year-old striker.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk are now claiming that Chelsea are plotting a late move for the highly rated Irish striker. It will be interesting to see where the youngster ends up. Ferguson is highly rated in the Premier League, and he has been linked with multiple big clubs in recent months.

Although Evan Ferguson has not been at his best this season, he remains a prodigious talent with a bright future. The 20-year-old is only going to improve with coaching and experience, and he could develop into a key player for West Ham United.

The Hammers need a reliable striker at their disposal. Summer signing Niclas Fullkrug has been quite underwhelming, and he has struggled with persistent injury problems as well. The 20-year-old striker could prove to be a useful acquisition for the Hammers.

Chelsea could use Ferguson

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they need more support in the final third as well. Evan Ferguson could compete with Nicolas Jackson for the starting spot. He could also share the goal-scoring burden with the Senegalese international. Chelsea will be hoping to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the 2024/25 season, and they need to improve their squad.

Signing one of the best young players in the Premier League could prove to be a wise decision. The Blues could be a more attractive destination for the Irishman. Chelsea have formidable resources and a talented squad. The West Londoners are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide Evan Ferguson with the opportunity to push for trophies regularly.

However, the Republic of Ireland international needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team opportunities, and West Ham and Chelsea might have to provide him with game-time assurances before a move can go through.
