Colchester United snap up Kyreece Lisbie from Brentford
COLCHESTER United have snapped up forward Kyreece Lisbie from Premier League side Brentford.
The 21-year-old winger, the son of former Colchester United striker Kevin Lisbie, has joined the U’s on a deal until the summer of 2027.
Lisbie signed for Watford in 2021 before moving to Brentford less than a year later.
He will now be looking to make an impact for Colchester, after signing for them on deadline day.
Lisbie’s last appearance for Brentford BÂ was against Chelsea under-21s in the Premier League Cup, when he scored twice in a 2-2 draw.
He has been in good form for the Bees this season, recording eight goals and three assists in 18 games.
Lisbie Snr joined Colchester in the summer of 2007 and finished as their top scorer in their second Championship season with 17 goals, in his first season at the club.
He left to join neighbours Ipswich Town the following summer but re-joined the U’s on loan in August 2009, scoring 13 goals in 43 appearances.
Speaking to the club’s website, Brentford technical director Lee Dykes said: “I’m delighted for Kyreece, as he takes the next step in his development by joining Colchester United.
“Our B team development programme has had great success, not only in progressing players into our first team but also in preparing them for senior football careers at other clubs.
“This is a key part of our academy philosophy and Kyreece is the latest player to embark on that journey.
“His move is a testament to the dedication of Neil MacFarlane and our B team staff, who work tirelessly to help players reach their full potential. On behalf of Brentford Football Club, I wish Kyreece all the best at Colchester United.”
