Coventry City injury news for Middlesbrough clash with Frank Lampard facing selection dilemma
Middlesbrough head to Coventry needing a win to make the play-offs
Frank Lampard could be facing more than a few selection dilemmas for Saturday’s crunch clash with Middlesbrough on the final day of the season, with a few injuries hampering the Coventry City squad right now.
Influential winger Ephron Mason-Clark, Victor Torp and Oliver Dovin (injured) as well as full-back Jay Dasilva (suspended) will definitely miss the game, while Lampard also has three doubts for the game. Joel Latibeaudiere suffered what was hoped to be a minor ankle injury as Luton last weekend, while both Bobby Thomas and Milan van Ewijk missed the game altogether, but had some chance of being back for Boro.
If none are though, Coventry will be without four defenders for the game, which could offer Michael Carrick’s Boro an opportunity to take advantage. If any of the trio are available, it will be up to Lampard to then decide which of his starters at Luton he takes out to accommodate them.

He faces another selection dilemma too, according to sister site Coventry Live. Goalkeeper Brad Collins has come under fire of late and it was a rush-of-blood moment that ultimately cost the Sky Blues the game at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. Their backup option Ben Wilson, however, has only recently recovered from a knee ligament injury and isn’t said to be 100% confident in it currently.
CoventryLive’s predicted Coventry team v Middlesbrough: Brad Collins; Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching, Jake Bidwell; Ben Sheaf, Matt Grimes; Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Jack Rudoni, Haji Wright; Ellis Simms.
Bloomfield gives ‘biggest thank you’ to Luton supporters as he feels belief amongst Town faithful is growing
Luton boss Matt Bloomfield offered up the ‘biggest thank you’ to the Hatters supporters inside Kenilworth Road on Saturday after they generated exactly the kind of atmosphere he had requested during their priceless 1-0 victory over Coventry City.
Prior to the contest, the Town chief had called for those attending to make sure the famous old stadium was ‘bouncing’ and they certainly did that. Buoyed by an early red card to Sky Blues defender Jay Dasilva, the majority of the near 12,000 found their voices for the duration of the contest, as despite the numbers being evened up midway through they second period when Liam Walsh was dismissed, a red card which has since been rescinded, they remained firmly behind their players.
It paid off quite dramatically as well, substitute Shandon Baptiste on hard to sidefoot in a 90th minute winner, albeit with a huge helping hand from City defender Luis Binks, to lift the roof off the place and give Town every chance of staying up this weekend. Asked about the noise created, Bloomfield said: “It was fantastic, I loved it, I absolutely loved being in the ground. From the minute we walked out for the warm-up, from the minute the game kicked off, just hearing our supporters in full voice, they could have got frustrated at times as it looked like maybe it wasn’t going to be our day, but they really stayed with us.
