Rio Ferdinand was less than impressed with what he saw in the Premier League clash between Everton and Liverpool on Wednesday.
The clash ended in a stunning 2-2 draw with Everton now 10 points clear of the Premier League drop zone thanks to a last-minute leveller from James Tarkowski.
Fans went wild as the volley flew into the top corner in the last-ever derby to take place at Goodison Park, with VAR confirming a second celebration too.
It all may have ended in turmoil thanks to a fight between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure but it was Dominik Szoboszlai who took the heat from Ferdinand.
Dominik Szoboszlai left Rio Ferdinand raging at Everton
For most of the second half, Liverpool seemed to be on the front foot, but Everton were more than comfortable for the majority.
However, that didn’t stop Szoboszlai from diving in the Toffees’ penalty box to try and get Liverpool a spot-kick, as desperation took over.
The Hungary international went down next to Tarkowski and even though Michael Oliver instantly waved away any calls, VAR still took a look and stuck with his decision.
Ferdinand wasn’t happy with Szoboszlai’s actions and claimed he should be “embarrassed” that he stayed down on the floor.
“Dominik Szoboszlai will be embarrassed when he watches that back later on tonight. I can’t believe he is lying down like he is injured. Embarrassing really,” he said on TNT Sports.
Everton to avoid Premier League relegation this season
When Sean Dyche was at the helm, talk of Everton potentially dropping down into the Championship was often brought up with fans and pundits suggesting the 2024/25 campaign could be their last for now in the Premier League.
