Sheffield Wednesday backroom staff trio ‘highly likely’ to leave, report suggests
Sheffield Wednesday coaching staff trio Henrik Pedersen, Chris Powell and Sascha Lense are ‘highly likely’ to leave, as detailed in a report by The Star.
Sheffield Wednesday are expected to cut ties with the three staff members. SWFC are preparing for another year in the Championship.
The Owls finished 12th in the table this past season. There are question marks over whether Danny Rohl will stay put at Hillsborough this summer or depart still.
In this latest update by The Star, Pedersen, Powell and Lense are poised to head out the exit door in the near future. They are all out of contract at the end of the month.
Speaking earlier this month, Rohl shared this update on his future at Hillsborough, as per Bild: “If it were up to me, as soon as possible (to leave). The Bundesliga is obviously something special because I grew up with it. For me, it’s always about working at the highest level.
“I want to compete against the best teams, with the best coaches. I have the good feeling that I’ve been able to generate significant added value over the last 18, 19 months in a demanding league with very different playing styles.”

Sheffield Wednesday brought in Pedersen in October 2023. SWFC turned to the 47-year-old following Rohl’s arrival.

The Danish coach has been a manager in his own right in the past. He has had spells at HB Køge, Eintracht Braunschweig, Strømsgodset and Vendsyssel FF.
Powell is an experienced operator in the Football League and will be a useful figure to have in and around the dressing room. He has been the number one at Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Southend United previously.
As for Lense, he is currently the Owls’ performance manager. The German has also had stints at RB Leipzig, Dynamo Dresden, Schalke and Manchester United in similar roles.
What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
Sheffield Wednesday have a lot of off-field issues going on. SWFC have been placed in a transfer embargo due to unpaid wages.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri is becoming increasingly more unpopular among the club’s fanbase. It remains to be seen whether Rohl will still be in charge come the next campaign.
It would be a massive blow for the 36-year-old if Pedersen, Powell and Lense were to depart. They are all valuable members of staff behind the scenes and would need to replaced by new people.
