AC Milan interested in surprise move for £13m Leicester City star
Leicester City could receive a surprise approach from AC Milan in the summer for one of their star players.
The Foxes already have history with AC Milan from the previous transfer window after Leicester looked at Strahinja Pavlovic, however, nothing came to avail.
Defence has been a huge issue for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side this campaign. So far, only Southampton (57) have conceded more goals than Leicester (55).
Conor Coady has been linked with Leeds United ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer in store and now Van Nistelrooy could be losing another centre-back.
AC Milan transfer news: Caleb Okoli a possibility for summer transfer
The arrival of the Leicester boss in November spelt bad news for Caleb Okoli – at least at the start of his tenure.
Okoli was dropped to the bench and replaced by Jannik Vestergaard but the Italian has started the last two games.
Furthermore, Okoli is Leicester’s best defender statistically and it’s no coincidence to see that the Foxes have looked slightly better at the back since his return.
For the majority of the transfer window, however, Okoli was tipped to return to Italy but a move to Parma never sufficed.
That may change though as according to TV Play, AC Milan want to sign Okoli.
Milan have considered the 23-year-old as someone who can boost their defensive options after a disappointing Serie A campaign.
Caleb Okoli and Ruud van Nistelrooy have settled their differences
At one point it was hard to imagine Okoli playing for Leicester after his bust-up with Van Nistelrooy.
Reports claimed that the pair had argued over the defender’s choice of boots after the 23-year-old was accused of slipping over too much.
Okoli quashed those rumours with an Instagram story and ever since the alleged disagreement has returned to the starting XI and been one of the better players in the squad.
With 13 games left of the season to decide Leicester’s fate, the Foxes will hope he has his full focus on the survival battle.
Martin O’Neill was always known for being an animated figure when on the touchline in his Leicester City days.
From his appointment in 1995 to his departure in 2000, the Irishman is one of the most popular figures in Leicester’s history.
Under his watch, the Foxes won the play-off final in 1996 as well as two League Cups from three final appearances in five years.
Those two League Cup triumphs therefore meant qualification to the UEFA Cup.
Their win in 1997 meant they were pitted up against an Atletico Madrid side that contained the likes of Juninho and Christian Vieri.
