Fabrizio Romano: Southampton Could Appoint ‘Incredible’ Manager
Southampton have former RC Lens manager Will Still on their shortlist to take over at St Mary’s Stadium this summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
The Saints are in the market for a new manager after Ivan Juric was relieved of his duties when Southampton’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed. Simon Rusk and Adam Lallana have taken charge on a temporary basis for the remainder of the campaign while the club make a decision on the next manager.
Russell Martin was in the hot seat at the beginning of the season after gaining promotion from the Championship last term, but a disastrous start to the campaign saw him sacked and replaced by Juric. Now, the Saints will be looking to bring in a coach capable of bringing them back to England’s top flight at the first time of asking.
Fabrizio Romano: Will Still an Option for Southampton
He will return to England for personal reasons
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that Still is an option for Southampton after leaving Lens. Still will return to England due to personal reasons, meaning the Saints could have a good chance of securing his signature…
“Yes he’s a candidate, for sure he will return to England due to personal reasons.”

Still, described as ‘incredible’ by Kevin Nicholson, will undoubtedly be looking to find a job immediately after returning to England, and the Southampton role could be an interesting proposition for him. The Saints have a young squad, and they should have a strong chance of gaining promotion back to the Premier League.
The young manager will likely want to manage in England’s top flight one day, but he’s yet to gain any experience in England. Joining a club in the Championship with a good opportunity to gain promotion could be a smart move for his career, and there is a job available at St Mary’s.

Southampton set to appoint new head scout – Huge step up for 36-year-old
Southampton are still coming to terms with relegation from the Premier League and what that will mean for the club on and off the pitch in the immediate future. There will be multiple players leaving the Saints, and there now needs to be a concentration on what is needed to get them back to the top division at the first time of asking.

Plans will also be in place longer-term to try and help the club have a better recruitment model. One piece of that jigsaw has almost been put into place, according to a claim from Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.
He reports Southampton are set to appoint Tim Lederer as their new chief scout. It’s a huge step up for the 36-year-old, who has been working as the ‘squad planner’ for Hoffenheim’s successful age-restricted sides.
The process isn’t finalised yet, with contract details needing to be sorted out, however, Plettenberg reports the move with some confidence.
Southampton fans will hope Lederer is ready for such a career leap.
