Antoine Semenyo: Bournemouth and Ghana forward motivated by trial rejections - BBC Sport

Bournemouth have secured the long-term future of Antoine Semenyo after tying him down to a new contract until June 2030.

The Ghana international moved to the Vitality Stadium from Bristol City in January 2023 and has become an integral member of the first team, registering 22 goals and 10 assists in 89 appearances across all competitions.

Semenyo had been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham after enjoying his best season in a Cherries shirt last term, bagging 11 goals in 37 Premier League games to help Andoni Iraola’s side equal their best-ever finish of ninth as they set a new record of points achieved (56).

However, the south-coast outfit have warded off potential interest from their top-flight rivals by handing the 25-year-old winger a new five-year deal.

“I’ve grown so much at the club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really happy to have signed ahead of returning for pre-season,” Semenyo told the club’s official website.

“From the fans to the staff and my team-mates, I can’t speak highly enough of the people around the club. It’s a great place to be and I’m excited to get back to Bournemouth and continue the hard work with the new season just around the corner.”

Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto, added: “Antoine has been crucial to the club’s progress and is a key member of the project here at Vitality Stadium.

With the anticipated renovations at Dean Court in the near future, one of the most frequently asked questions in recent weeks has been whether any work has begun at the stadium.

It hasn’t, not externally at least, but it does feel like a metaphorical revolving door has been installed since the end of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Dean Huijsen has left for Real Madrid, Milos Kerkez has been sold to Liverpool, Daniel Jebbison has gone on loan to Preston North End and Max Aarons has also left on a temporary deal to Rangers.

Joining him in Glasgow will be Joe Rothwell.

Whilst the deal is yet to be officially confirmed by either club, Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam never misses with his reports regarding the Cherries.

He has posted on social media that the two clubs have agreed on a fee, with Rothwell entering the final year of his contract at Dean Court.

The 30-year-old’s move is officially undisclosed.

Definitely a plus for the transfer team that it isn’t another loan. Better for him as well, I would imagine.

One of those signings who never really did anything wrong but it never quite worked out for him here as we both would have hoped. All the best Joe.

I imagine the Hibs fans are getting pretty miffed at us now. That’s two decent quality players we’ve sent the way of one of their rivals. – To join the conversation, please click here.
