PSG submit offer for Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi
Paris Saint-Germain have submitted an offer for Bournemouth centre-back Illia Zabarnyi (22), according to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.Â
PSG are looking to wrap up the signing of a centre-back before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup and Zabarnyi has now emerged as the priority target. As per L’Équipe, the European champions are looking for a young player, who would be able to replace Marquinhos in the long term. The Brazilian could leave PSG this summer, and even if he does remain at the Parc des Princes, it is thought that his game time will reduce.
Hawkins understands that Les Parisiens’ sporting director, LuÃs Campos, was in Bournemouth on Monday morning, just a matter of hours after the club’s triumph in the Champions League final, to discuss a move for the Ukrainian centre-back. He is keen to join PSG and has already agreed to join, whilst PSG are looking to quickly wrap up a deal. In parallel, the club are working on a deal for another centre-back, who also plays in the Premier League. The identity of the player has not been revealed.
PSG’s Luis Campos in Bournemouth on Monday for Cherries transfer business
On Saturday evening, PSG advisor Luis Campos was watching the team he’d help assemble dismantle Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
That was evidenced by him being on the victory parade which came down a wounded Champs-Élysées on Sunday evening, showing of the trophy to a limited number of fans after trouble the night before. Then on Monday he was… in Bournemouth on transfer business.
That’s what Fabrice Hawkins is reporting, and it would appear the freshly crowned European champions have set their sights on a player at the Premier League club, and Campos travelled to Bournemouth to try and advance the situation.
The man concerned is Illia Zabarnyi, and it’s claimed he’s keen on the move. That’s not the greatest surprise given the attractiveness of playing for the Champions League winners.
The 22-year-old has a contract with Bournemouth lasting until 2029, and there’s no estimate of the transfer fee given.
