Marti Cifuentes handed big Leicester City boost ahead of Coventry City
Marti Cifuentes is set to welcome Louis Page back to the Leicester City squad ahead of next Saturday’s ‘M69 derby’ against Coventry City, in what will be a huge boost to the Spaniard and his side.
The Foxes had endured a strong start to life back in the Championship under their newly-appointed boss, having won three and lost one of their opening four encounters prior to the September international break.
However, aims of a fourth league victory under Cifuentes were quashed on Saturday afternoon in an entertaining and controversial 2-2 draw against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium, during which debutant and Burnley loanee, Aaron Ramsey was sent off after 24 minutes.
Despite being held against the early-season strugglers in a similar vein to Coventry, the East Midlands side will hope to make an immediate return to winning ways and notch a third straight success at the King Power Stadium against last season’s Championship play-off semi-finalists.
And despite a handful of incomings bolstering Leicester’s midfield and attacking department since the last of those encounters – a 2-0 win over Birmingham City on August 30th – it represents a major boost for Cifuentes and his squad to be able to call upon the extremely talented 17-year-old.

Louis Page of Leicester City vs Charlton Athletic
Page has been one of the second-tier’s standout youngsters in the early weeks of the season, taking his breakout opportunity with both hands as Cifuentes looks to mould a side capable of challenging for an immediate return to the Premier League amid a backdrop of severe financial uncertainty and potential points deductions due to alleged PSR breaches.
The attacking midfielder and product of the City academy made the club’s senior matchday squad for the first time in the 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the Championship season, before being handed his senior debut in the 2-1 defeat to League One outfit, Huddersfield Town in the EFL Cup just three days later.
His first two league starts have subsequently come against Charlton Athletic and Birmingham, which led to an inclusion in the England Under-17’s squad for the recent international break.
After featuring against Uzbekistan and Morocco, Page was ruled out of the final outing for the Young Lions against Canada due to a hamstring issue, which he was assessed for prior to Saturday’s draw against Gary Rowett’s side, eventually missing out on a place in the squad.
However, it has since been reported by Leicestershire Live that Cifuentes is expected to be able to call upon the homegrown ace’s services for the upcoming ‘derby’ against Frank Lampard’s side on Saturday lunchtime, having been involved in the travelling party to the Kassam.
