EFL expert drops Wrexham vs Charlton Athletic score prediction and makes League One promotion claim
Wrexham can make history on Saturday. But Phil Parkinson and co won’t be getting too excited, knowing they have a huge challenge ahead.
Wrexham welcome Charlton Athletic to the Racecourse on Saturday. It’s a huge game in the race for 2nd which Wrexham are currently winning, sitting four points ahead of Charlton in 4th and with Wycombe Wanderers wedged in 3rd, now two points behind.
On Monday, Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 to move back into 2nd. Charlton meanwhile thumped Wycombe 4-0 to make for an enticing end to the season. And the game at the Racecourse on Saturday has been given a bit more needle after Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones called Wrexham a ‘circus’.
Although not a circus, the last few years have certainly been eventful for the club under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who could watch their team secure a third-straight promotion this season.
Wrexham can secure promotion to the Championship on Saturday if they beat Charlton and Wycombe lose away at Leyton Orient.

Benjamin Bloom’s score prediction for Wrexham vs Charlton Athletic
And promotion is exactly what Bloom has predicted for Wrexham on Saturday. He backs 6th place hopefuls Leyton Orient to beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-1 and then backs Wrexham to beat Charlton Athletic 1-0 in a round of results that would see Phil Parkinson’s side promoted.
But speaking earlier in the week, journalist Rich Fay gave his prediction for Wrexham and Charlton Athletic and he predicted a draw, as well as a draw in the game between Leyton Orient and Wycombe, which would see all the drama go to the final day.
Wrexham travel to Lincoln City on the last day of the season. Wycombe meanwhile host 5th place Stockport County whilst Charlton host strugglers Burton Albion on the final day.

Wrexham’s promotion chances revealed by supercomputer
Already we know that Birmingham City are promoted. And now with two games to go Wrexham are the favourites for 2nd, although last Friday it was a different story after their 1-1 draw against Bristol Rovers saw them slump into 3fd.
But ahead of Saturday, a supercomputer has predicted Wrexham’s promotion chances giving the Dragons a 61.36% chance of automatic promotion and 38.64% chance of promotion via the play-offs.
Of course, the players and Parkinson won’t want to leave their fate to the play-offs with the team in such a strong position right now. Charlton Athletic will prove very tough though.
Kick off is at 5:30pm on Saturday.
‘A different man now’ Ex-Premier League boss gives verdict on Phil Parkinson amid Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham speech
Wrexham had some Hollywood inspiration before producing one of their finest performances of the season in the 2-1 win over Blackpool.
James McClean revealed Rob McElhenney’s speech to the Wrexham squad before the clash with Blackpool and the owner asked the players to relax and drown out the noise.
Wrexham are back in pole position to secure automatic promotion from League One but have another huge encounter at the Racecourse Ground as Charlton boss Nathan Jones has fired a dig at the club.
Phil Parkinson echoed McElhenney’s message to supporters to get the Racecourse ‘bouncing’ against Charlton but an ex-colleague of Parkinson’s believes he is a ‘different man’ after allowing McElhenney so close to the dressing room.
