Dodgers Calling Up Bobby Miller After Wild Extra Inning Game vs Mets

The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller from Triple-A following Friday night’s 7-5 victory in extra innings over the New York Mets.

The Dodgers used eight pitchers in the series opener at Citi Field and currently have 14 pitchers on the injured list.

Miller was scheduled to start Saturday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, but is expected to be in New York with the team soon. Miller’s arrival gives the Dodgers a fresh arm as the bullpen as already overworked heading into the series opener with the Mets.

With Oklahoma City this season, the right-hander is 1-1 with a 4.63 ERA, 31 strikeouts and 1.49 WHIP across 35 innings pitched. Miller made one start for the Dodgers earlier this season, but it was less than ideal as he gave up six earned runs in three innings.

Dodgers’ Blake Snell Admits He Shouldn’t Have Pitched to Start Season Due to Injury

From the moment Snell’s signing was announced, it was evident the two-time Cy Young winner was ecstatic to join the Dodgers. The 32-year-old was one of the first pitchers to arrive at Camelback Ranch.

Unfortunately, Snell’s excitement may have contributed to his early season injury.

“I probably should have stopped throwing before Opening Day but I just wanted to pitch so bad,” Snell recently told AM 570 Sports. “It’s tough, we want to compete. You want to play and, you know, new to being a Dodger, I just want to show everyone how great I am and what I can be. Got a little too far ahead of myself. Looking forward to getting back.”

The southpaw made just two starts for the Dodgers before being placed on the injured list. Snell was the first of three starters who were in the Opening Day rotation to be sidelined by injury. Since then, Tyler Glasnow and Roki Sasaki have joined the lefty on the sidelines.

The Dodgers transferred Snell to the 60-day IL last weekend, but he provided a positive update on his recovery.
