Trent Alexander-Arnold reacts as Liverpool complete transfer
Liverpool transfer news as Trent Alexander-Arnold has reacted to the Reds confirming their latest move this summer window on social media
Nat Phillips brought an end to his nine-year stay at Liverpool when he signed for West Bromwich Albion on Monday. As reported by the ECHO, the deal is worth £3m inclusive of add-ons.
An academy graduate at Anfield, he featured 17 times in the Premier League when the club were defending champions in 2020/21 but thereafter failed to become a first-team regular. He has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Celtic, Cardiff City and Derby County.\
The centre-back made 33 appearances for the Rams last year, returning a goal and three assists to help them avoid relegation from the Championship.
Phillips also becomes Albion’s first signing since the appointment of head coach Ryan Mason.
After the transfer was confirmed, Liverpool posted a post on Instagram in which they thanked the 28-year-old for his service.
Adam Lallana, Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Luis Diaz, Jay Spearing and Wataru Endo all liked the post.
After signing for his new club, Phillips said: “A big factor was that this is obviously a big club with high aspirations – and I’d say those aspirations align with mine.
“I think everyone at the club and involved would like to see it competing for promotion and pushing for Premier League football – and that’s the same as me.
“I’m really looking forward to it, and as soon as I found out about the interest, I just wanted to get here and get going.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always wanted to develop a rhythm and continue to play week in, week out.
“I feel like I did that in the second half of last season, and I want to continue that rhythm and try to take that into the season coming up.
“I’ve had a number of loans over the past few years, and it’ll be really nice for me and my family to go somewhere and know we’re staying there to develop a relationship with the club and the fans.”
Albion Powerchair’s FIPFA Club World Cup campaign got underway earlier today, with mixed results coming against Club Nacional de Football and Upsilon Châtenay-Malabry.
Goals from Brad Bates and Matt Gilbert either side of a Marco Diaz strike saw Albion make the perfect start against Uruguayan side Club Nacional, before a narrow defeat came in their second match against the tournament hosts.
The Baggies can still qualify when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers at the PRISME arena tomorrow afternoon (15:00 – BST).
In the tournament opener, Bates sent early warning signs to Los Tricolores outfit within a minute of the tie. The forward saw his initial shot blocked but worked an angle well to strike an inch wide of the target.
The Baggies scored an excellent counter-attack just moments later, Chris Gordon played Gilbert into space, leaving him to tee up Bates in acres of space to give Albion the perfect early start.
Nacional took full advantage of the water break midway through the first period, and came out fighting. Francisco Wild split the Albion defence apart with a pinpoint pass, leaving Diaz to spin into the bottom corner.
