Newcastle Closing in on Signing ‘Extraordinary’ Star Alongside Ramsey
Newcastle United are close to reaching an agreement to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, and a deal could be sealed by the end of the week, according to a report from Africa Foot.
The Magpies have been in the market for a new striker in the summer transfer window, with the future of Alexander Isak remaining uncertain. Liverpool are still keen on the Swedish striker, with GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs confirming that Isak is waiting on a call from the Reds, who are prepared to bid again after seeing a £110m offer rejected.
If Newcastle are to allow Isak to head through the exit door in the summer transfer window, they are likely to want to bring in a replacement before seeing him depart. Wissa is reportedly on their shortlist, but it’s a similar situation for Brentford. The Bees have been hoping to bring in a replacement for granting Wissa’s wishes to leave.
Newcastle Close to Yoane Wissa Agreeement
Yoane Wissa
According to a report from Africa Foot, Wissa is close to leaving Brentford, with Newcastle working to finalise a deal for the striker. A move could be sealed by the end of the week, with Brentford advancing on a deal to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo.
Wissa, described as ‘extraordinary’ by Breaking The Lines, enjoyed an impressive 2024/2025 campaign with Brentford, and it will be interesting to see whether Eddie Howe looks to play him up front with Isak, if the Swedish striker stays. The Wissa move comes shortly after GIVEMESPORT correspondent Fabrizio Romano reported that Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey is also closing in on a move to St James’ Park.
It’s been a slow start to the summer transfer window for Newcastle, securing both Aaron Ramsdale and Anthony Elanga as their only senior additions so far, but business is starting to pick up as we edge closer to the beginning of the Premier League season. Wissa would certainly add goals to Howe’s side, but it will be interesting to see how this impacts Isak’s future at St James’ Park.
Newcastle get their campaign underway on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Aston Villa, before hosting Liverpool in their first game of the 2025/2026 season at home. The Magpies round off August with a trip to newly-promoted Leeds United.

Tottenham to seal £68m Eze deal before release clause expires on Friday
Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze has a huge sense of urgency attached to it, as the former QPR man is understood to have a £68million release clause within his contract, which is due to expire imminently.
It is believed that the clause only has until Friday left to run, which means that after that point, Palace will have much more of a say as to the fee that they will demand for the England international.
Spurs have missed out on several big-money targets already this summer, but the key for them here will be to act quickly and decisively as they aim to move towards an agreement
