Tottenham genuinely believe they’re about to make a signing that will make a ‘massive difference’ this season

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been the most active team in the summer transfer window so far.

Mohammed Kudus has joined Spurs, but other than returning loanees, he’s the only new addition to the side.

However, Tottenham may be about to add another body to the squad.

Joao Palhinha is set to join Spurs, and according to Dean Jones speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Spurs have high hopes for this move.

Indeed, according to Jones, Tottenham believe Palhinha is a good fit for their side and they think he will make a massive difference in their midfield.

Joao Palhinha will make a massive difference at Tottenham

Jones shared what he knows about Palhinha and his impending move to Tottenham.

The journalist says that Tottenham do rate the midfielder very highly, claiming that the bite he will add into the midfield will make a massive difference.

“Joao Palhinha is open to joining Tottenham. That’s a story that I’ve been writing over the past month. Tottenham really feel this is a good fit for them and adding that bite into the midfield will make a massive difference, that Premier League experience too. Palhinha will be disappointed that his Bayern Munich move didn’t work out, I love Palhinha in terms of a player,” Jones said.

Joao Palhinha’s record vs Tottenham

Palhinha is set to arrive at Spurs, and he comes in as no stranger to the Premier League.

Indeed, Palhinha has played in England before with Fulham, and during his time at Craven Cottage, he came up against Spurs on no fewer than four occasions.

Palhinha didn’t have all that much success against Tottenham, barring one win, but one statistic in particular tells you what he’s all about.

Games 4

Wins 1

Draws 0

Losses 3

Yellow cards 3

Three yellow cards in four matches tells you everything about Palhinha. He’s a tough tackler who takes no prisoners whatsoever.

The midfielder isn’t afraid to get physical or put a foot in, and that’s exactly what Spurs need in a midfield that was overrun far too often last season.

Thomas Frank can give Tottenham £50m boost with Mathys Tel decision

Mathys Tel will be hoping for a breakout season at Tottenham Hotspur following his permanent move from Bayern Munich.

Tel impressed for France U-21 at the European Championships earlier this summer as he helped the young French team reach the semi-finals.

Jermain Defoe hailed Tel’s performances at the tournament and even compared him to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

The striker could now hand Thomas Frank a major boost in the transfer market following the role he has been playing during pre-season.

TBR Football understands that Tottenham remain in the race to sign Yoane Wissa, despite Newcastle United leading the race.

Wissa is valued at £50m by Brentford, which would be a big investment, especially for Spurs, where he’d be coming in as a backup option.

That money could certainly be better invested elsewhere at Spurs, given their deficiencies in other areas, so Frank should be looking internally for a Dominic Solanke backup.

Richarlison could be that player, but given his injury record and doubts over his future in North London, Frank may need to look elsewhere.

Against Arsenal, Tel was introduced for the Brazilian playing in the number nine role, and he could be just the answer to Spurs’ need for another number nine.

The 20-year-old had a promising 26-minute cameo against the Gunners, almost setting up Micky van de Ven for a second Spurs goal.
