Not Sesko: Newcastle Eye Move to Sign £100m ‘Monster’ Striker
Newcastle are showing interest in a summer move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, MailOnline journalist Craig Hope has revealed.
The Magpies have reportedly identified the Senegal international as another option in their search for Alexander Isak’s replacement, alongside RB Leipzig starlet Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa ace Ollie Watkins.
While they have yet to make a formal approach to Chelsea, Newcastle have added Jackson to their list of attacking targets amid growing uncertainty over Isak’s future at St James’ Park.
The Sweden international has told the club he would like to leave before the transfer window shuts, with Liverpool earmarked as his priority destination.
Newcastle Considering Nicolas Jackson
Seen as alternative to Sesko and Watkins
According to Hope, Newcastle are considering several names in their search for Isak’s potential successor, and have earmarked Jackson as another target alongside Sesko, Watkins and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
Jackson has been pushed down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and could depart amid recent links to other Premier League clubs.
Chelsea are believed to value the ‘monster’ striker at £100m and are eyeing a profit after signing him for a reported £32m fee from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.
Jackson has made 81 appearances for the Blues since joining, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions.
Liverpool are expected to make an official bid for Isak soon, after being identified as his priority destination this summer.
The Premier League winners are likely to boost their pursuit of Isak with the sale of Luis Diaz, as they are set to bank £66m from his move to Bayern Munich.
