Everton: Youssef Chermiti - 'I couldn't turn down this opportunity' - BBC Sport

Sheffield United target Premier League striker along with Stoke City and Swansea City

Sheffield United are interested in Everton striker Youssef Chermiti along with Stoke City and Swansea City, according to EFL Analysis.

Sheffield United are being linked with a move for the Premier League man. SUFC are gearing up for another year in the Championship.

Chermiti, 21, joined Everton back in 2023. He has since made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees, four of which came last season, and hasn’t scored.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has told EFL Analysis: “The last thing I heard was that Everton were quite keen to keep Youssef Chermiti as their third-choice striker. They quite like him. But there’s no doubt that he has interest in the Championship. He’s very highly rated. A lot of clubs like him. I think it’s one where that’ll just be depend on what Everton’s business is like this summer.”

He added: “He’s going to be a player to watch in August for a move if it happens, right through to the end of August, we could be waiting on that one. Unless Everton make their decision sooner, which I don’t think they have.

“But yes, he has a lot of clubs that like him a lot, and he is a really interesting option for those Championship clubs like Sheffield United, Swansea, and Stoke.”

Sheffield United are well stocked up with options up top including Kieffer Moore, Tom Cannon and Tyrese Campbell. SUFC could see Chermiti as someone to further boost their attacking arsenal.

The youngster could do with leaving Everton to get some more game time under his belt. He struggled for regular minutes in the last campaign.

Chermiti rose up through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon after joining them as a teenager in 2016. He played 22 matches for the Portuguese giants and found the net on three occasions before his transfer over to England a couple of years ago when the Toffees came calling.

What now for Sheffield United?

Sheffield United have the chance to bring in some new faces over the next couple of months. SUFC were beaten in the play-off final at Wembley last month by Sunderland and there are now question marks over the future of Chris Wilder.

Chermiti would give the Blades more competition and depth in attack if he joined. However, they would need to see off competition from league rivals like Stoke City and Swansea City if they were to secure his services. The latter have turned to Alan Sheehan as their permanent manager after his impressive caretaker spell in charge.
