Opinion: Jadon Sancho could be a smart buy for Chelsea on two conditions – Talk Chelsea

Jadon Sancho transfer latest on Nottingham Forest’s interest as Inter Milan enter the race

Jadon Sancho became the unexpected headache at Manchester United this season after Chelsea paid a penalty clause for him not to play for their club.

Since then, the question of Jadon Sancho has hung over the club as a symbol of the past while Ruben Amorim tries to power the team into the future.

Sancho’s links to Juventus gathered pace early in the window, but they have gone a bit quiet, with the club preferring Sergio Conceicao instead.

Recently, Inter Milan entered the race, but the unexpected suitor came in the form of Nottingham Forest. United in Focus can exclusively report the latest on the same.

The script was flipped for any potential Sancho transfer recently when an unexpected suitor came to the party.

Chelsea paid the penalty clause and Sancho hadn’t been very convincing in his Premier League outings either, but that didn’t stop an English team, reportedly.

Some recent reports indicated that Nottingham Forest had registered an interest in Sancho, eager to replicate what they did with Anthony Elanga.

While Elanga wasn’t unprofessional at Old Trafford, his race was run at the club and Forest were widely looked at as a downgrade.

However, Elanga has earned himself a move to Newcastle for £55m in a classic case of a club rehabbing the value of a United player.

Forest were looking to do the same with Sancho, as per reports, but United in Focus can exclusively report that a ‘complicated deal’ for Sancho is difficult to do, and Forest aren’t getting into that maze.

United in Focus spoke to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, who said, “There is interest in Sancho, but nobody is close. We have seen Inter Milan come in the last week, but talk of Nottingham Forest, I am told, is wide of the mark.

“Sancho is a very complicated deal for anyone to do.”

Sancho will be a desperate deadline day deal

The wages, the history of unprofessionalism, and the circumstances regarding his performances on the pitch always made Sancho an unattractive option.

Add to that United openly alienating the player, making it clear that he can be anywhere else but at the club, and it was always going to be difficult to shift him.

Much like what happened with him last summer, or what happened with Marcus Rashford in January, Sancho will likely be a desperate deadline day deal.

Desperate from United’s perspective, and a gamble from the buying party, because Sancho is likely holding out for a free-agent move next summer so he can pocket a signing fee.

A deal that was so celebrated when it happened continues to find new lows every week for the club.
