Chirewa joins Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of highly-rated Zimbabwean international, Tawanda Chirewa, on loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 21-year-old, who impressed during his time with Wolves and the Zimbabwe national team, will look to make an immediate impact at Huddersfield, where both the club and player are eager for the move to succeed.
Chirewa’s football journey has been nothing short of impressive. After beginning his youth career at Ipswich Town, he made a high-profile move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2023. His rise through the ranks was rapid, making eight Premier League appearances, including a thrilling appearance in the Black Country derby against West Bromwich Albion. His international debut for Zimbabwe in March 2024 further underscored his growing reputation.
Following a first-half season loan at Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship, Chirewa has now returned to Wolves, only to find a new chapter awaiting him at Huddersfield Town.
“I’m delighted to be here and feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to join such a big club ahead of a really important part of the season,” said Chirewa in his first remarks as a Huddersfield player. “I have heard amazing things from Nigel and Joe about what it’s like to play here, the facilities, coaches, and the supporters, and can’t wait to experience all of that for myself.”
Chirewa had several options for his next move but described joining Huddersfield Town as the right decision. His signing has been met with excitement, and the club will be hoping he can add pace and creativity to their forward line in the crucial months of the season.
Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard have signed Huddersfield Town striker Bojan Radulovic on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old joined Town from Finnish side HJK Helsinki in January last year but has scored just two goals in 28 league appearances.
He could make his debut for Fortuna, who are eighth in the Dutch top flight, in Sunday’s home game against Ajax.
“While we saw flashes early on his time with the Club of the ability that persuaded us to sign him, we just haven’t been able to find a consistency with Bojan that has allowed him to perform to the level we needed,” sporting director Mark Cartwright told the Terriers website.
