El Hadji Malick Diouf ▶ Skills, Goals & Highlights 2024/2025ᴴᴰCrystal Palace now holding talks to sign £35m player in transfer deadline day deal

Despite masterminding an impressive 2-0 win for Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday, Oliver Glasner still wants reinforcements before the deadline.

A double from Jean-Philippe Mateta moved the Eagles above Manchester United and up to 12th in the Premier League, although the Crystal Palace squad remains thin in some areas.

Crystal Palace have been trying to signc from Slavia Prague for most of the winter transfer window to help Tyrick Mitchell, the only natural left-back at Selhurst Park, while the centre-back department has also become weaker after Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah and Chadi Riad suffered a serious knee injury.

In response to these developments, Oliver Glasner is now keen for Crystal Palace to sign Strahinja Pavlovic before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail has now claimed that Crystal Palace are in talks with AC Milan over a deadline day deal for the Serbia international.

The Eagles could sign Tiago Djalo on loan from Juventus if a move for Pavlovic fails to materialise – while Ben Chilwell is being considered to provide some cover for the aforementioned Mitchell, after a period of silence on the Diouf saga.

The reliable journalist wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Crystal Palace in talks over a move for AC Milan centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic. Also interest in taking Juventus’ Tiago Djalo on loan. Interest in Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell remains – but may depend on budget.”

A story from The Sun provides further details on Pavlovic.

It is said that Glasner is a huge fan of the AC Milan No.31 – who the Italian giants value at £35m – with Crystal Palace prepared to go close to £25m in order to make the deal happen.

Not only would Pavlovic arrive to cover for the losses of Chalobah and Riad, but The Sun add that Crystal Palace are also preparing for the departure of Marc Guehi either this summer or next January.

The 23-year-old did, however, start for AC Milan in the 1-1 draw against Inter Milan on Sunday night, so it would be a real shock if he were allowed to depart this late in the window.

Where Marc Guehi could end up

Guehi is yet to sign a new contract at Selhurst Park – with his current terms expiring in June 2026.

Given the value of the England international, Crystal Palace will not want to run the risk of losing him for nothing, or for a bargain fee, closer to that June 2026 date, so a summer sale is expected.
