Lincoln City man was wanted by League Two side before Chesterfield move
Lincoln City winger Dylan Duffy was wanted by Morecambe before his move to Chesterfield, the Shrimps’ boss Derek Adams has said.
Lincoln City gave the attacker the green light to link up with Chesterfield earlier this week
Duffy, 22, will now spend the rest of the season with the Spirerites. He made his debut for Paul Cook’s side during their 3-0 win over Bromley last time out.
Adams has revealed that Morecambe were keen on landing the player before they missed out on a move, as per a report by the Lancaster Guardian: “There’s scope for a second player. Dylan Duffy, who went to Chesterfield, we had agreed a (loan) deal with Lincoln City for him. He was coming to us but, unfortunately, that was another phone call I had to make.
“We’re looking for players that have proven that they can score goals, which is obviously an area we need to improve in.”
Lincoln City’s Dylan Duffy was on Morecambe’s radar
Lincoln City gave Duffy the green light to join Chesterfield to get some more game time.
Morecambe could have seen him as someone to bolster their attacking ranks.
They will need to search elsewhere for alternative targets before the deadline on Monday.
After linking up with the Spirerites, he told their website: “Hopefully I can get the fans off their seats and be exciting. I’m a wide player so I want to get balls into the box and hopefully chip in with a few goals.”
Duffy signed for Lincoln City back in 2023 and he has since made 61 appearances for them in all competitions to date, 13 of which have come in this campaign, and he has found the net on three occasions.
He rose up through the ranks at Shamrock Rovers and went on to play three times for their first-team as a youngster.
The former Republic of Ireland youth international then linked up with UCD and chipped in with four goals in 34 outings before heading over to England.
What now for Dylan Duffy at Chesterfield?
Duffy will want to get as many minutes as possible with Chesterfield.
They are currently sat in 9th place and are six points off the play-offs. Cook’s men were promoted from the National League last year.
