Exclusive: Jeon Jin-woo can be West Brom success as insider shares transfer reality

West Brom’s 16-goal transfer target makes decision on Hawthorns transfer, Gus Poyet had a huge say

West Brom are preparing to back Ryan Mason in the transfer market and have identified the forward line as a priority.

Aune Heggebo joined the Baggies in a £4.7m deal and has a fantastic goalscoring record that will only benefit the Black Country club.

Only two teams scored fewer goals in the top half of the Championship table last season and West Brom know a few extra on top could be the difference between a play-off place or not.

Mason was hoping to add another name to his ranks and has heard back from one of his primary targets following rumours of talks.

It’s clear that Albion are looking to explore a more niche market to pick up hidden gems and had headed to South Korea to see if they could find one.

They certainly managed to and had come across striker Jeon Jin-woo, who registered 21 goal contributions from 26 games in all competitions last season.

Woo is playing for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and has been linked to clubs in Europe, including Albion.

According to the Express and Star though, the 25-year-old has chosen to stay in Asia following a conversation with manager Gustavo Poyet.

Jeonbuk are also keen to not sell mid-season so that he can play his part in the title race, where the club are leading the way in the South Korean top flight as it stands.

Heggebo looks like he will be the main man for Albion this season due to his previous tallies.

Before signing on the dotted line, the Norwegian forward had already bagged seven times from 13 league games and could’ve been well on his way to finishing as top scorer.

The previous season before, he scored 15 in all competitions and ended his time at Brann with 51 goals from 148 games.

As for Woo, this is his first full season at Jeonbuk so therefore has less data to go off but 19 goals in 40 appearances suggests that this is a man who can find the back of the net.
