Cameron Carter-Vickers: Celtic defender Champions League doubt with toe injury | Football News | Sky Sports

Celtic ‘exodus on cards’ as Leeds United eye Carter-Vickers swoop

Leeds United have been credited with an interest in Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.

Daniel Farke is keen on signing a new centre-back to strengthen the Whites’ first team in the coming weeks.

Leeds are in talks to sign Udinese defender Jaka Bijol, but they’re also exploring other options.

Sunderland are also keen on signing Carter-Vickers

According to Herald Scotland (15 June), fellow newly-promoted side Sunderland are also eyeing Carter-Vickers.

The United States international has impressed since leaving Tottenham and has been linked with a return to England.

Since his switch to Glasgow, the 27-year-old has made over 150 appearances in all competitions for the SPFL champions.

However, this could be the summer he leaves, should a move to England materialise.

Celtic are facing an exodus, as along with him, Greg Taylor, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda may also leave.

Leeds United may need to be quick to beat the Black Cats to Carter-Vickers’ services

To sign Carter-Vickers ahead of Sunderland, Leeds United must act swiftly and decisively.

With both clubs promoted to the Premier League, the Whites should leverage their financial backing from the 49ers to meet Celtic’s valuation, potentially outbidding Sunderland, who may hesitate at the high price.

Offering a lucrative contract and emphasising regular playing time under Daniel Farke could sway the 27-year-old USMNT defender, who’s tempted by a Premier League return.

However, the Elland Road outfit must prioritise Bijol over Carter-Vickers.

At £17 million, the Udinese defender is a more cost-effective option and personal terms are already agreed, with negotiations progressing with Udinese.

His 62 caps for Slovenia and consistent Serie A performances make him a proven asset.

With Max Wober’s potential departure, Bijol’s signing strengthens Leeds’ thin backline, allowing Ethan Ampadu to return to midfield, enhancing squad balance.

Leeds United beat Premier League clubs to seal huge transfer

Leeds United are making their moves in the transfer window as Daniel Farke aims to avoid relegation next season.

Despite securing 100 points in the Championship last season, the Whites go into the 2025/26 season among the favourites to get relegated.

Lukas Nmecha was wanted by multiple Premier League sides

Leeds United secured the signing of Lukas Nmecha, making their first move of the summer transfer window.

Farke wants the Elland Road outfit to sign another striker despite finalising the deal to sign the former Manchester City forward.
