Stoke City keen on temporary deal for Premier League player

Stoke City are in the frame to sign Manchester City striker Divin Mubama on loan, according to reporter Fraser Fletcher on X.

Stoke City are interested in landing the Premier League attacker on a temporary basis ahead of next season. SCFC are gearing up for another year in the Championship.

Mubama, 20, joined Manchester City last summer from West Ham. He has since made two first-team appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side and has scored one goal.

In this latest update regarding his situation, journalist Fletcher has claimed on X that it is a ‘real possibility’ that he could link up with the Potters in the near future. Mark Robins’ side stayed up on the final day of the last campaign.

Stoke City have so far signed Sorba Thomas in this window. He has told BBC Sport: “They are in a team that’s in a league that I believe they shouldn’t be in with the size of the club. For me, I’m just here to help them reach their goals of getting back to the Premier League.

“It’s a young team, so pre-season is going to be massive for us. Not much about the result but about chemistry and certain positions on the pitch. Everyone knowing my strengths and how I play, and vice versa.”

Stoke City could see Mubama as someone to boost their attacking department. SCFC could do with some more reinforcements at the top end of the pitch.

The England youth international rose up through the academy at West Ham. He was a regular for the Hammers at various different youth levels.

Mubama penned his first professional deal at the London Stadium in 2021 and made his senior debut a year later against FCSB in the Europa League. He went on to play a further 18 matches for the London club and found the net once.

Manchester City then came calling and handed him a long-term deal. They now have a decision to make on what to do with him next.

What now for Stoke City target Divin Mubama?

Stoke City were too close to the drop zone for comfort last term. SCFC will hope that they can compete higher up the division next time around.

Mubama would give them more competition and depth up top if he joined. Time will tell whether the Potters will be able to get him though and Manchester City will be mulling over his next steps.

The experienced Mark Robins was appointed as the head coach at the Bet365 Stadium in January to replace Narcis Pelach. The former Coventry City man has since won seven of his 23 games in charge in Staffordshire.
