Wrexham to land Tottenham ace in huge Premier League swoop?! Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds consider move for Wales stalwart Ben Davies as Spurs contract runs down after Europa League win
WHAT HAPPENED?
Wrexham are preparing for their season in the Championship on the back of three straight promotions from the fifth tier of English football. The Red Dragons have been on the charge since their majority takeover by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and they now aim to create more history by making their way to the Premier League for the 2026/27 season.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wrexham have already been in contact with Fulham star Tom Cairney, and Football League World has now reported that the Red Dragons are now dreaming of making a move for Tottenham’s Davies this summer as a free agent, with his contract set to run out in June.
TELL ME MORE…
Davies is set to leave Tottenham after an 11-year stint with the Lilywhites, and the 32-year-old is believed to be the perfect player for Wrexham. Their blueprint has to be to introduce experienced players in the fray to help them over the last few years.
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
The Red Dragons are keen on doing what Ipswich Town managed last season: promotion to the back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League. However, a lot of work will have to be undertaken this summer if they are to do that.
The Red Dragons were promoted with 92 points, the most they have managed in a single EFL season.
They also became the first side ever to win three promotions in a row when starting in the fifth tier or higher.
With 2024/25 now over, the Welsh outfit’s historic campaign has been documented and broadcast in the new season of Welcome to Wrexham, which included appearances from several celebrities such as Channing Tatum.

Season 4 Episode 4 of the documentary was released on Disney+ for fans in the United Kingdom on May 30.
The episode saw Tatum featuring heavily after he paid a visit to the Racecourse alongside Ryan Reynolds.
Together, the pair watched Wrexham draw 2-2 with Cambridge United on December 14, 2024.
