Portsmouth keen on transfer swoop for 23-year-old

Portsmouth are interested in a move for Silkeborg midfielder Pelle Mattsson, according to a report by Bold.

Portsmouth are being linked with a swoop for the Danish Superliga man this summer. Pompey are preparing for another year in the Championship.

Mattsson, 23, has been on the books of Silkeborg for his whole career to date. They could now face a battle to keep hold of him this window.

In this latest lates news regarding his situation, Bold claim he has emerged on the radar of John Mousinho. He said to be keen on the possibility of leaving Denmark in the near future.

Mousinho shared this update regarding his side’s plans for pre-season, as per their official club website: “We’ve got a similar schedule to last year, with a seven-week break before returning for pre-season. The players will shortly be coming back to the training ground and we’ve already got most of the friendly matches confirmed.

“But it’s already been a busy period because of all the forward planning and recruitment work there is to do. In terms of the latter, it won’t be as busy as the past two summers, while also not just one or two – probably somewhere in between.”

Portsmouth could see Mattsson as someone to boost their midfield ranks. Pompey are being patient with their recruitment at the moment.

The former Denmark youth international would give Mousinho more competition and depth in the middle of the park. He is still relatively young and has potential to develop in the future.

Mattsson has risen up through Silkeborg’s academy over recent years. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels as a youngster.

He broke into their first-team in 2019 and he hasn’t looked back since. The Marstal-born man has become one of their most prized assets.

Portsmouth have the chance to add more quality to their squad over the next couple of months. Time will tell whether they end up snapping up Mattsson.

Pompey won promotion from League One after they won the title in 2024. They went up last year along with Derby County and Oxford United and all three of them stayed up in the last campaign.

The Hampshire outfit have adapted well to the step up to the second tier and survived with ease last term. Mousinho has done a great job since taking over at Fratton Park and will want their momentum to continue.
