Plymouth Argyle, Wigan Athletic consider move for out-of-favour Portsmouth forward
Plymouth Argyle and Wigan Athletic are both interested in Portsmouth forward Christian Saydee, according to Football Insider.
Plymouth Argyle and Wigan Athletic are in the market for new additions and attackers look to be on the radar. Fresh reports have now said PAFC and the Latics could go head-to-head for one potential option.
The League One duo are both interested in Portsmouth forward Christian Saydee, with both exploring a loan or permanent deals.
Saydee was part of Portsmouth’s successful survival season last term, as they returned to the Championship for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
However, the 23-year-old forward struggled to cement a regular place in John Mousinho’s side and only played from the start in 10 of his 29 appearances for Pompey last season.
Filling the gaps at Plymouth Argyle and Wigan

Rumoured Plymouth Argyle and Wigan Athletic target Saydee has vast League One experience despite his young age, playing for Burton Albion and Shrewsbury Town before joining Portsmouth, where he helped the club achieve promotion.
There are gaps at both PAFC and the Latics to plug, and Saydee could do so.
Ryan Hardie could leave this summer as well as Muhamed Tijani, who is returning to Slavia Prague following his loan move. Another man who looks set to leave Home Park is Mustapha Bundu with his contract set to expire at the end of the month.
As for Wigan Athletic, last season’s top scorer Dale Taylor is heading back to parent club Nottingham Forest after his successful loan.
This will leave gaps in attacking areas for both clubs, so a move for Saydee would be a clever one as he enters the final year of his contract at Portsmouth.
Chance to get back amongst the goals

Saydee’s 2024/25 season was not most prolific for the forward with limited chances following Colby Bishop’s return from a heart operation.
The drop back down to League One with one of Plymouth Argyle or Wigan Athletic could see him get more regular starts as well as get amongst the goals again.
Saydee will be looking to find some form he found whilst at Shrewsbury Town where he scored seven goals in his 35 appearances.
However, since his move to Pompey he has failed to find the net as easily.
Nonetheless, both PAFC and the Latics will have managers preparing for their first summer at their respective teams, as the former have landed ex-Watford head coach Tom Cleverley after Miron Muslic left for Schalke. Wigan Athletic meanwhile are under Ryan Lowe’s lead, who was appointed in March.
