West Ham ‘ready Hermansen transfer’ as PSR trouble takes over again

West Ham are on the hunt for another goalkeeper this summer and could pounce for Leicester City star Mads Hermansen.

The Dane has been at the Foxes since 2023 and helped the East Midlands club win the Championship in his debut season in England.

However, the last campaign was less fruitful as he was part of the Leicester side that got relegated from the Premier League without a fight.

Nevertheless, Hermansen was one of the better stars for the Foxes last season and is now subject to interest from West Ham.

Graham Potter needs a new goalkeeper now that Lukasz Fabianski has left West Ham.

The Pole was a reliable keeper for the London club for many years and was mainly used as a back-up in his final two seasons.

As a result, according to talkSPORT (21 June), the Hammers are targeting a move for Hermansen.

Leicester City are open to offers for the goalkeeper due to concerns about PSR, having already been charged since the season ended.

West Ham were previously linked to Aaron Ramsdale and have now added Hermansen to their list of targets, as they kick on at the London Stadium.

Potter is believed to want genuine competition for current number one Alphonse Areola.

While West Ham do need a new goalkeeper, Potter needs to target someone who will replace Areola rather than offering the Frenchman competition.

Areola was largely inconsistent for West Ham last season, which ended up costing the Hammers many points.

Therefore, going for competition may not resolve this issue, and could make it worse. Areola will be under even more pressure to perform, which is likely to produce more errors.

However, if West Ham instead signs someone who is clearly going to be the first-choice, it solves both issues in one blow.

Hopefully, Potter looks to go down this route before the transfer window closes at the London Stadium.
