Stoke City panic after Leeds United show interest in star player – club have sparked contract talks

Leeds United have benefitted a lot from Victor Orta’s time at the club. His transfers had an unusual success rate for the most part, but his vision has served the club well.

He started a drive to recruit high potential youngsters across Europe when he was at Elland Road. The club brought in the likes of Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt, Kristoffer Klaesson and Pascal Struijk among others. The plan was to put them in the U21s and develop them till they reached the first team.

Even though some players did not live up to the hype and expectation, Leeds got some solid players out of it.

Pascal Struijk is now the club captain, and Crysencio Summerville netted a huge profit for the Whites when he was sold last summer. Young players are starting to have more and more of an impact at Elland Road in recent years. Archie Gray earned the trust of Daniel Farke and became a first team star last year. His brother Harry Gray may follow the same path soon.

Leeds are planning a swoop for Stoke City youngster Emre Tezgel according to TEAMtalk. The 19-year old is out of contract next month, and has a whole host of suitors this summer. Tezgel broke into the Stoke team this season, featuring in 12 games. The forward caught the attention of English clubs after scoring 11 goals in 5 games in the Premier League 2.

Stoke City have started contract talks as they are desperate not to lose the player.

Tezgel would be one for the future

Just like how Struijk and Summerville panned out great, Leeds could do the same with Tezgel. His level of talent is immense and is already attracting big clubs across Europe.

Elland Road is the perfect place to develop as shown with Archie Gray’s emergence last year. The club will have an upper hand if the youngster decides to leave Stoke City.
