Why Micah Parsons Thinks Derrick Henry Wouldn’t Have Helped The Cowboys
There was once an idea to bring former Alabama Crimson Tide star Derrick Henry to the Dallas Cowboys. Who wouldn’t want to pull the trigger on this move, right? Dak Prescott would have a solid rusher to space the field and Coach Mike McCarthy’s offense is opened up to a whole new world of possibilities. While there’s a lot of optimism in this what-if, Micah Parsons posits that there would have been no way that Henry could have changed their team’s fate despite his talents. So, the move from the Tennessee Titans to the Baltimore Ravens may have been the best option.
The Cowboys’ defensive menace even went out to compare their season to how bad the Titans were when Henry was still there, via Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM. “I’m afraid Derrick Henry wouldn’t even have helped us. Derrick Henry should be blessed because he played with Lamar, and he almost ran for 2,000 yards. The hypotheticals sometimes can sound pretty good, but, man, we struggled so much that I don’t even know if Derrick could have helped us. It would have been another Tennessee Titan year for him,” Parsons said. While the Ravens failed to win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional, the former Alabama rusher still had a great season. He notched 16 touchdowns while rushing for 1,921 yards on 325 attempts. Even Parsons noted that this was the perfect situation for the Crimson Tide legend.
“I’m happy he had the year he had, and deservedly so, and I think being in that system with Lamar helped him hit another gear in his career, so I think everything happens for a reason and he’s right where he belongs,” he added. The Cowboys ended up with a 327.5 total yards average on offense, which was good for 17th in the league. The rushing game was a big reason for how low their production was.
