‘Make it official today’ – Brighton on the verge of announcing incoming transfer
Brighton’s move for Hellas Verona centre-back Diego Coppola has moved quickly in the past few days.
Gazzetta dello Sport today report on how Verona are trying to rebuild their backline, and some attention is paid to Coppola’s move to Brighton.
The 21-year-old will join the South Coast club soon and is set to sign a five-year deal with Fabian Hurzeler’s side, having already undergone a medical with the club.
Gazzetta believe Brighton will ‘make it official today’ and the Gialloblu will earn a fee of €11m plus bonuses from the Azzurri talent’s sale. They will also earn a certain percentage from Coppola’s future sale.
The report states that the talent has been the lynchpin of Verona’s backline and in an attempt to replace him, Paolo Zanetti’s side have made contact to sign Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson.

William Osula left Sheffield United for Newcastle United in August of last year and signed a contract until 2029.
“I just need playing time to show what I can do. It means something to me. I already know… Only myself and my father know what I can do. When playing time comes, everyone will see what I can do on the pitch,” he said.
It won’t be easy for the frontman to feature regularly for the Magpies, given the presence of Alexander Isak.
Osula has managed eight goals and two assists from 13 games for Denmark U21s. Højer is aware that he has qualities to become a ‘big star’ and needs regular minutes to showcase that.
“I think I’ve mentioned the potential many times, and it’s because he plays too little for people to discover him,” Højer told Bold.
“But against Holland you got a little bit of it. On this team he’s been good, and he’s scored a lot of goals. He has the speed he has, and he’s not easy for the others to handle. It’s quite impressive what he goes in and does, when you think about what he came with.”
The 21-year-old was limited to a back up role under Eddie Howe’s orders at Newcastle. To put it into context, he played 413 minutes from 19 games, managing a goal and two assists in the process.
Denmark U21s manager Steffen Højer dropped the striker from the squad for November and March’s international breaks before recalling him for the U21 European championship.
Osula has repaid Højer’s faith and managed a winning goal and an assist in the 3-2 win over Ukraine U2s1, and a brace in their 2-1 victory against the Netherlands U21s.
Bold interviewed the Newcastle youngster, who says he can only showcase his qualities at St James’ Park if Howe gives him more opportunities.
