Everton backed to sign Tom Fellows amid West Brom crisis

Everton in pole position to sign Tom Fellows amid £20m West Brom exit news

Everton have booted up an excellent run of form under David Moyes that even the majority of their supporters did not see coming.

The Toffees’ hard-fought 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday evening (15 February) was reminiscent of the revived campaign they have so far been enjoying.

Moyes has been frustrated with PSR constraints preventing the ability to get more reinforcements through the door at Goodison Park, despite sole winter signing Carlos Alcaraz displaying the heroics to win the game for his side in South London over the weekend.

Everton are looking to step up their search for talented recruits in the summer and are preparing a renewed bid for West Bromwich Albion’s Tom Fellows, according to Darren Witcoop.

As reported on page 69 of the Sunday Mirror (16 February), Fellows is keen on a switch to Merseyside and Moyes is equally eager to strengthen his side with the England Under-21 winger, of whom he is a “big fan”.

Fellows has been in inspired form for the majority of this season and was the first Championship player to reach double figures in assists in 2024-25.

Albion rate the wide man at £20million, following Everton interest for a lower sum in January which was quickly rebuffed.

Moyes is keen to give a new Championship star an opportunity to flourish in the Premier League, having previously signed Jarrod Bowen for ex-club West Ham United from Hull City in 2020.

Fellows is also the subject of interest from Southampton, though their almost certain relegation rules them out of the running compared to Premier League rivals for his signing.

Toffees a different beast right now

There were times when Everton had their backs to the wall at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but they just have a new-found knack of discovering how to win.

The shackles are off going forward and even without the creative flair of Iliman Ndiaye and the astute pedigree of Abdoulaye Doucoure in the centre of the park, Moyes’ men always felt they could nick all three points.

The whole Everton team were over the moon for Alcaraz when he scored, the young Argentine enjoying his moment in front of the travelling supporters to hear his name belted out for the first time since joining on loan from Flamengo.

Alcaraz, 22, will have felt a lot of pressure on his shoulders coming in to replace Ndiaye, and could turn out to be one of Moyes’ most integral players between now and the end of the season.

There are just six league games remaining for the Toffees at Goodison Park and they can be enjoyed a lot more now, given the tremendous run which has seen the team move 13 points clear of any relegation threat.
