Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee this summer.
According to a report from GMS, the player is valued at £40 million, and Tottenham do not have any problems with the asking price. It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done.
He is capable of slotting into the attacking midfield role as well as on the flanks. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net as well.
James McAtee is highly rated
McAtee has been labelled as an exceptional dribbler by Carl Asaba.
Asaba said: “He’s like Odegaard. You play him in midfield so he’s defending for you, he’s another body for them to try and navigate away from but he likes the ball 30 yards out because he can go past you like you’re not there.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has previously claimed that the 22-year-old is a player “everyone loves”. He could be a long-term asset for Tottenham, and it will be interesting to see if they can sign him.
James Maddison is sidelined with an injury, and they need an alternative. The Manchester City star could be the ideal acquisition. He needs regular gametime, and the move to North London would be ideal for him as well.
Tottenham will be able to provide them with Champions League football for the upcoming campaign, and he will look to fight for trophies with them. Sitting on the bench at Manchester City will not benefit him, and he should look to sort out his future soon.
The £40 million asking price might seem expensive right now, but the player is highly rated in England, and he is a promising young talent. He could justify the investment in the long run.
The 22-year-old was exceptional for England U-21 during the Europeans earlier this summer, and he will look to compete at a high level at the club level now. Regular football at Tottenham could help him cement his place in the England senior team as well. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
