Dodgers Notes: Another All-Star to Injured List, LA Linked to Blockbuster Trade, Dave Roberts Talks Andy Pages Struggles
The Los Angeles Dodgers added another pitcher to the injured list bringing their total to 12, and it’s only the first week of April. Two-time Cy Young award winner Blake Snell will be forced to miss his next couple starts as a result.
In other pitching news, Roki Sasaki revealed what changes led to his best MLB performance in his young career thus far. Although the phenom didn’t get the win, he only allowed one run in four innings along with four strikeouts.
Additionally, the Dodgers were linked to a potential blockbuster trade ahead of this year’s deadline.
And finally, manager Dave Roberts recently got honest about Andy Pages’ struggles both on the bases and in center field.
Donald Trump drops ‘scary’ truth bomb on Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani during White House visit
During their visit to the White House following their World Series win, President Donald Trump praised the Los Angeles Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani.
President Trump specifically name-dropped Ohtani — who he called a “movie star” — during the visit for being a part of the elite 40-40 and 50-5o clubs (meaning he hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases during the season). Trump then asked Dodgers manager Dave Roberts if he was “good.” Roberts then replied, “[He’s] only getting better.”
Trump then responded, “That’s scary for a lot of people, huh?”

Now, months later, the Dodgers are on their White House visit, hosted by President Donald Trump. They accepted the invitation in March 2025 after months of speculation.
The move was met with some controversy. A tribute to Dodgers legend Jackie Robinson was taken off a government website during a “digital refresh” amid President Trump’s latest term.
Ultimately, the club still decided to visit the White House. They will also visit Capitol Hill on Tuesday, April 8, according to the team’s official announcement.
The White House visit comes after the Dodgers went 1-2 against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, they will be visiting the Washington Nationals for a three-game series from April 7-9, 2025, amid their White House visit.
Dodgers make roster move amid Freddie Freeman’s injury
The Dodgers switch up the lineup with Freddie Freeman on the IL.
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Freddie Freeman on the injured list on March 31 after the star first baseman suffered an injury while falling in the shower. As a result, the club made a roster change on Friday to add some depth to the major league lineup.
Los Angeles announced they are calling up catcher Hunter Feduccia with Freeman currently injured, according to team beat writer Jack Harris. The Dodgers may not play Feduccia at catcher, as both Will Smith and Austin Barnes lock down that position. So, Feduccia may sub in as a designated hitter, or spot starter at first base while he’s on the roster.
“Dodgers announce they are calling up Hunter Feduccia with Freddie Freeman on the IL.”
The 27-year-old catcher made his MLB debut in 2024 when he played in five games for the Dodgers. He played well in his 14 plate appearances, hitting an impressive .333 batting average and .429 OBP. Feduccia recorded four hits and an RBI, and was walked twice last season.
Freddie Freeman’s injury was unfortunate as the two-time World Series champion was bouncing back from an ankle surgery he had in the offseason. It healed in time for the start of the 2025 campaign and the 35-year-old first baseman looked solid in the three games he played for the Dodgers.
Before falling in the shower, Freeman had recorded a .250 batting average and .250 OBP while hitting two home runs and four RBIs. The good news is that Freddie Freeman is expected to make a relatively quick recovery, as the Dodgers placed him on the 10-Day IL. He’ll be first eligible to return on April 10.
If the Dodgers star returns by then, his first game back would be on April 11 when L.A. takes on the Chicago Cubs in their first game of a three-game series. However, Los Angeles will likely monitor Freeman and won’t rush him back if he’s not ready. It’s still early in the season and ensuring he’s healthy is the top priority.
