Four players Leicester City should build around and how it impacts most important transfer
Leicester City may have the strongest set of players for one position in the Championship and it’s something they need to take advantage of to boost their promotion chances
Building a team around one player is a risky move. All it takes is one injury and the gameplan unravels.
But what about building around a position? If the squad depth is there, covering for any injuries or suspensions, then it could work.

In Stephy Mavididi and soon-to-be-fit-again Abdul Fatawu, City have two wingers who have proven they can deliver in the Championship. Between them, they registered 37 goals and assists en route to the title in 2024.
Both are them are exceptional in one-on-ones. Mavididi’s footwork and Fatawu’s speed can flummox full-backs.
If they stay at the club, they should be City’s starting pair. But what happens if they’re ruled out through injury, or even get tired late in games?
Well then City can call on Jeremy Monga or Will Alves. That’s two more players who can operate out wide and can use trickery to beat their men.
Stricken Leicester City star sets return date in big boost to new-season hopes
The Ghanaian winger tore his ACL last November while on international duty but has been making quick work in his recovery and posted an update before signing off for the summer
Abdul Fatawu’s sights remain set on a pre-season return with the Leicester City winger desperate to “fight for the badge” again.
The Ghanaian tore his ACL on international duty last November to rule him out for the season in what was a huge blow to City’s survival fight.
Posting a video from Seagrave on Thursday, Fatawu said he was now signing off for the summer but hopes to be able to join his team-mates when pre-season begins.
City’s non-internationals are due back on June 30, giving them six weeks to prepare for the first Championship game of the season.
“Just finished my last session of the season,” Fatawu said. “I’ve been working so hard.
“My rehab has been so good. The people, the physios, the management, the players, everyone has been so supportive to me.
“By God’s grace, I’ll be ready before the pre-season. I can’t wait to get started again, to be back on the field, fighting for the badge as always. I can’t wait to see the fans again. It’s been a while.”
Fatawu managed to play 13 games in all competitions before his injury, setting up two goals, in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham and the 3-2 win at Southampton.
