
On January 14, Dion shared the tribute to her husband on her Instagram page. She included a photo showing her posing with the couple’s three sons and wrote that her husband died nine years ago.
As People noted, René Angélil died at 73 of throat cancer in January 2016. Dion and Angélil had three sons, René-Charles, who is now 23 years old, and twins, Nelson and Eddy, who are 14.
Dion wrote, “René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I.”
She continued, “You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…. We love you.”
In the photo Dion shared, she and her sons were all dressed in cream hues and sat together on a couch outdoors. Christmas decorations could be seen behind them, and all four had smiles on their faces.
She posted a couple of snapshots of them on Instagram throughout 2024. Before that, one has to scroll back to a June 2019 post to see a picture of the four together.
The tribute to Angélil and rare photo of the pair’s sons together received nearly 400,000 likes and over 3,000 comments in less than 24 hours.
“Hard to believe 9 years already, but what a legacy he has left behind and how proud he would be of you and the boys, 🤍” one supporter commented.
Another note read, “For now and always, sending love to all of you! Your love will survive from beyond the time. God bless and protect your family! ❤️❤️❤️”

“What a beautiful picture of you all. I know he is here with you, whispering guidance in your ears, and endlessly proud of all of you, ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️” wrote a separate Instagram user.
On December 17, 2024, Dion shared a photo from the couple’s wedding on her Instagram page. She noted it was their 30th wedding anniversary.
