Projections: Sheffield United's Anel Ahmedhodžić

Exclusive: Wolves set sights on signing Anel Ahmedhodzic

Wolves are monitoring the situation of Sheffield United centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old is high on the target list at Molineux as Gary O’Neil looks to add to his squad in the final days of the summer window – which shuts on 30 August.

Sources say Wolves are ready to test Sheffield United’s resolve with a bid for Ahmedhodzic.

Club chiefs believe the defender is a natural replacement for ex-captain Max Kilman, who joined West Ham at the start of the summer window.

Ahmedhodzic has played 90 minutes in both of Sheffield United’s Championship fixtures this term, including the 2-2 draw against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday (17 August).

He was a regular for the Blades in the 2023-24 campaign as they were relegated from the Premier League.

Walker-Peters transfer: Everton and West Ham update as talks open

Besiktas have entered the race for Everton and West Ham target Kyle Walker-Peters, sources have told Football Insider.

Walker-Peters, 28, has confirmed he will quit Southampton this summer and the right-back is available on a free transfer.

The Turkish giants have turned their attention to the England international after missing out on Bright Osayi-Samuel, who looks set for a move to Birmingham City after the Championship side opened new talks.

In a blow to his Premier League suitors, Besiktas are now ready to table a lucrative offer to Walker-Peters – who has an admirer in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sources say it is still an open race for the free agent ahead of the expiry of his Southampton contract on Monday (30 June), with Fulham also keen on a potential deal.

Besiktas can offer the right-back Europa League football with the Turkish giants entering the competition at the second qualifying round next month.

Walker-Peters was relegated with Southampton last term but has a wealth of Premier League experience after joining the Saints on an initial loan in 2020.

He has made 148 appearances for the south coast club and Tottenham in the English top flight and was key to the Saints’ promotion in the 2023-24 campaign.

The versatile defender, who can also play at left-back, made his first two England appearances in March 2022.

Burnley set sights on West Ham star

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (27 June) that Burnley are interested in signing West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek but could find it hard to afford a deal.

The midfielder, 30, does not figure in Graham Potter‘s long-term plans at the London Stadium.

Soucek is entering the final year of his contract at West Ham and the club are open to offers for him in this summer’s transfer window.

Exclusive: Newcastle and Fulham race to sign Calvert-Lewin as offers readied

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will have options to stay in the Premier League next season after his Everton exit, sources have told Football Insider.

Newcastle and Fulham are among the teams ready to step up talks and advance their interest over the next few weeks – with both clubs in the market for a new striker this summer.

Calvert-Lewin has confirmed he would be leaving Everton at the expiration of his contract, after nine years at Goodison Park.

It is believed the 28-year-old will have offers from clubs abroad, as well as those in the Premier League.

Calvert-Lewin expected to be in demand

Calvert-Lewin has shown throughout his Toffees career that when he is on form, he is a handful for some of the best defenders in the world.

The England international scored 71 times during his 273 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club, including the goal which saved them from Premier League relegation in 2022.

There will be no shortage of suitors for the forward, who has scored as many as 16 top-flight goals in a single campaign before.

However, Calvert-Lewin has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and any buying club will be wary of his patchy fitness record.

Last season, the centre-forward started just 19 Premier League games for Everton, and only managed three goals.

Sunderland set sights on Doucoure deal

Meanwhile, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Sunderland are considering a free transfer move for Abdoulaye Doucoure after his Everton exit.

The 32-year-old’s Toffees deal is up on Monday (30 June) and the Merseysiders have already confirmed he will be moving on.

Doucoure is on the list at Sunderland following their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last term.

The Black Cats are keen to add Premier League experience as they draw closer to agreeing high-profile deals for Habib Diarra and Reinildo.
