Ruud van Nistelrooy has Jamie Vardy 'business' plan as Leicester City desperate - Leicestershire Live

Ruud van Nistelrooy has Jamie Vardy ‘business’ plan as Leicester City desperate

Vardy will leave the King Power Stadium this summer

Ruud van Nistelrooy says the whole club is desperate for Jamie Vardy to bow out with 200 Leicester City goals.

The 38-year-old, who has scored 199 times for the Foxes, has three games to get to his double century before he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Team-mate Jordan Ayew has said he is only thinking about assisting his team-mate in the remaining matches and Van Nistelrooy reinforced the sentiment.

“They want to help because the players in the squad have realised over the past 13 years, the games and the goals he has scored, the trophies he’s won, and being so loyal to the club in good and in bad,” the Dutchman said ahead of Sunday’s visit to Nottingham Forest.

“I think we all want to give him the best possible farewell. And of course, there’s no better way than to get results, to get him on the scoresheet, and get the ball into the area where he can be dangerous, and he will do his business.

“So there’s a big motivation there, I sense in not only the players, but also in the staff and in the fanbase.”

While Vardy is nearing the end of his career, Jeremy Monga is just starting out.

Big things are expected of the 15-year-old, having made four first-team appearances this season, but he has other things on his mind as he is sitting his GCSE exams

Van Nistelrooy joked that he is helping the teenager with his revision and that he remains involved with the matchday squad.

“He’s reporting every day, and I’m asking him the questions on the maths and asking if he is studying his chapters now,” he added.

“Saturdays and Sunday, there’s no school, so he will be available for Sunday. Quite something, isn’t it?”
