Röhl’s resignation response and Windass wait – A Sheffield Wednesday recap after Watford draw
Josh Windass became the club’s top scorer this century as he bagged his 53rd goal for the Owls at Vicarage Road, but Moussa Sissoko was on hand just before half time to grab an equaliser ahead of the break. The second half saw chances fall to both sides, but neither was able to find the winner.
It was a game that could prove to be the last in Wednesday colours for many of the squad, and potentially even the last at the helm for Danny Röhl, and the German spoke with pride after the final whistle. You can see part of his interview in the video at the top of the page, while the game highlights can be found below
Windass, who was again the man of the moment after his latest Owls goal, spoke to the media after the time for what could be the last time amid question marks over his future. We’ll have to wait to find out what lies ahead… Here’s what he had to say:

Sheffield Wednesday: Danny Rohl sends message to Dejphon Chansiri as exit hints issued
Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has signed off the 2024/25 season with a thankful, but notably ambigious, message to the club’s supporters.
The 36-year-old was evasive when directly asked about his future at Hillsborough, a sore talking point among Wednesday fans following his recent links to Southampton, Leicester City, and RB Leipzig.
The Owls concluded their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Watford to finish in 12th position in the Championship table, which is progress from their relegation battle the season prior, but it may not be enough to keep Rohl at Hillsborough.
Danny Rohl sends message to Sheffield Wednesday fans following persistent exit links
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield in post-match press duties, Rohl was introspective and emotional when talking about what’s next for him.
“I think after the game today, when I went to the fans, I got a view of my last 560 days in this club.” the German said.
“To look in these faces, how they celebrate, how they call my name, it’s always special. Big, big respect to them – they are the heartbeat of this club are the fans, they are always there, they always supporting us.
“I had no experience that was negative, always positive, always togetherness, and they played a big, big part for our achievements so far.
“We don’t know what happens in the next couple of days. I know what I want to do, my picture’s very clear but it’s also part of the position of the club then.
“I will not forget this place. It doesn’t matter what happens now. To have, so quick, such a relationship, such a belief, such a hope, such a respectful togetherness, I can’t expect this when I took over. And it’s incredible, it will be part of the bottom of my heart.”

As for what comes next for the popular coach, Rohl kept things open – but made no secret of his ambition.
“It’s about the picture that I have, I hope we have a good, respectful last conversation. And then we have to carry on in both directions. It’s important, and it’s what I think everybody deserved,” Rohl added.
“I will be always thankful to the chairman that he gave me this big, big opportunity – I know this, that he was really brave and I think nobody should forget this.
“He was the guy who gave me this opportunity, and he was the guy who helped me a lot but sometimes we come a point where we have to move on.
“I want to work at the highest level, I want to make the next step, I think this is also where I make my position.
“Maybe it’s destiny. I enjoyed to work for this club, I enjoyed with my players – we should be very proud of what we achieved.
“One thing is also clear – I got a lot of credit, I got a lot of good words, but without my team, without my players it’s not possible to do everything and this is a big big thing for us as well. They help me, they help the club.”
