Danny Rohl may regret Southampton choice after Bundesliga club's brutal response

Danny Rohl may regret Southampton choice after Bundesliga club’s brutal response

Werder Bremen has decided to cut short their Danny Rohl plans and the manager may regret his decision to reject Southampton now.

Admit it or not, but Will Still’s decision to return to England has been key to driving him to St. Mary’s for a Southampton job. Strangely, such a homecoming decision is the only common link that the new Saints boss, Still, shares with the club’s long-touted target, Danny Rohl.

Otherwise, after being rejected by Rohl for a 2nd stint, which Southampton fan would love to discuss about their former assistant manager?

But, just see the sharp turnaround of fate now. Currently, Southampton are perfectly content with their new manager while Rohl searches for a dream Bundesliga return.

Pitifully, despite being a favourite to land multiple Bundesliga roles, Rohl still awaits a nod from clubs like VfL Wolfsburg and Leipzig. But if it wasn’t enough, now the manager has been bluntly refused by a native German club.

It’s Werder Bremen who despite being interested in Rohl initially, has straightaway dropped him from their final managerial shortlist.

As quoted by Sport Witness, a Bild report confirmed Werder Bremen’s Rohl stance, saying: “He was among the closest candidates. However, talks with Röhl failed to achieve their goal.”

Rohl may regret Saints choice after recent rejection

Honestly, dropping from being an outside favourite for the then all vacant coaching roles including Southampton to now seeing his options reduced, Rohl’s precedence has fallen apart.

In fact, it’s a likely possibility that the Championship boss might even be regretting letting go of a Saints role now. Especially, when he commanded the hot seat for the managerial role with much pride not long ago.

Truth be told, with managing roles filling rapidly in both the Championship as well as in his homeland Germany, a situation may see Rohl forced to stay put at Sheffield Wednesday for another year or two.

Well, even for what he did to Southampton, Saints fans won’t want Rohl to end up in such a condition, yet, maybe that’s what he deserves for his deeds.

Russell Martin’s spot on Tyler Dibling analysis is a must listen for Saints

Russell Martin draws comparisons between Tyler Dibling and Harry Kane, claiming the teenager has a better International future than the current English Captain for his age.

It’s been some days since pundit Don Goodman presented the irresistible Tyler Dibling question to Southampton. Still, we haven’t heard back anything from the Saints camp.

Admitted that this ain’t easy to resolve, but what’s prolonged Southampton’s decision is the lack of proper action-takers for the job.

With Simon Rusk’s departure and Will Still’s fresh arrival, the Saints lack an authority figure to decide on Dibling. Someone who has closely followed the player enough.

Seems a helpless situation for Southampton, doesn’t it? But thankfully, an ex-boss’s recent comments might help the Saints. Intriguingly, it’s the most despised name for Saints fans recently, Russell Martin, who has come to his previous club’s rescue now.

Recently, on the Rest is Football podcast, Martin heaped praise on Dibling’s exceptional talent, touting him a perfect long-term fit for England’s national side.
