Newcastle United could have another centre-back target as well as Giorgio Scalvini

Scalvini has emerged as the Magpies’ top centre-back target. Newcastle’s interest in Marc Guehi has cooled, while other targets have gone elsewhere.

Newcastle wanted Dean Huijsen, but he has joined Real Madrid. Illia Zabarnyi was also a Newcastle target, but he looks set to leave Bournemouth for Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle United have already been told exactly how much Giorgio Scalvini will cost

It has been reported that Scalvini is Newcastle’s top centre-back target, with the Magpies believing a deal worth around £30million is possible.

However, recent reports in Italy suggest that the 21-year-old will be a bit more expensive than that.

What Newcastle United were told about Giorgio Scalvini’s asking price

Newcastle United have been told that Scalvini will cost more than the £30million they are looking to spend.

That is according to Corriere Della Sera, who reported on 24th June that Newcastle United officials contacted Atalanta to discover how much Scalvini will cost.

They were told that the centre-back is valued between £34.5million and £43million.

While that is more than the Magpies’ valuation, the fact that the two parties are not massively far apart is encouraging. That could hopefully result in a compromise being reached.

Newcastle United have taken a big step towards signing Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga after an improved bid of £55m was placed on Thursday.

A clear statement of intent from Eddie Howe, the Magpies have not been deterred by their initial bid for Anthony Elanga being rejected in June.

Newcastle United fans have been crying out for a right winger since the takeover in 2021. Many thought they had a quality player in Yankuba Minteh, who impressed on loan at Feyenoord after signing for Newcastle from Odense in 2023. However, the club were forced to sell him to help avoid breaching PSR and being handed a points deduction.

It was revealed on Thursday night that Newcastle had placed a £55m bid for Elanga and that talks were going on in the evening to push the deal through. The belief is that Newcastle should have no issues with Elanga’s personal terms, with the 23-year-old reportedly very keen on moving to Tyneside and linking up with international teammate Alexander Isak.

With Newcastle looking like they will get the deal for Elanga through, a new report has shared how Forest have reacted to their latest bid.
